Her Smile, Her Faith, Her Love
In Loving Memory of Pastor Barbara Ann Corprew
Pastor Barbara Ann Corprew, a devoted servant of God, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, left home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. She was 75 years old.
Barbara was the cherished wife of Pastor Robert Corprew. Together they shared 45 years of marriage, built on faith, love, and ministry. She was a guiding light to her family and her community, known for her radiant smile, her encouraging words, and her ability to give unconditional, selfless, and sometimes tough love that always came from the heart.
From a young age, Barbara was destined to make an impact. While attending East Side High School in Paterson, NJ she started an all-girls basketball team at, showing early on her drive to create opportunities and bring about change. She later graduated from Kennedy High School in Paterson, NJ. She often lived by the words, "If It Is To Be, It Is Up To Me," which became a guiding principle throughout her life.
Barbara was a devoted mother to Pastor Marcus "Markee" Debnam, Disheila S. Bethea (Michael), Danna J. Schmude (Michael), Tara D. Bigelow (William), and Michael A. Corprew (Jacqueline). She also lovingly embraced her stepchildren, Minister Roszita "Tina" Fields, Tonya Corprew-Shearin, and Jamal Corprew.
Barbara's legacy continues through her grandchildren: Malik A. Bethea, Chynna M. Ferreira (Gabriel), Jordan R. Corprew, Tatyana A. Corprew, Tristan R. Corprew, Victoria B. Corprew, Micalyn J. Corprew, Mila A. Corprew, Aiden M. Schmude, Miles C. Schmude, Aliyah R. Schmude, William S. Bigelow, Jr. and a grandson soon to arrive, baby boy Bigelow. She was also blessed with two greatgrandchildren, Scarlett Bethea and Juliana Ferreira, who brought her immense joy.
Barbara was reunited in heaven with her parents William M. Debnam and Delia L. Debnam, her sister Janet E. Debnam-Gilbert, and her grandson Micah J. Corprew. She is survived by her brothers Reggie Debnam, Linnie Debnam, and Ricky Green; her children and stepchildren; her grandchildren; and her great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many beloved relatives, including nephews, nieces, and cousins both near and far, all of whom were touched by her love and presence.
A gifted teacher of the Word of God, Barbara had a passion for writing and enjoyed sharing her wisdom and faith. She especially treasured family gatherings, spending birthdays and holidays surrounded by her children and grandchildren. In addition to her deep faith, Barbara was wonderfully down to earth-always ready to dance, crack a joke, and enjoy a good laugh. She loved moments like attending a girls' day with her daughters to see the movie Girls Trip.
Barbara will be remembered as a woman who lit up every room she entered, who poured into others with wisdom and compassion, and who lived a life that reflected her deep love for the Lord. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the opportunity to know her.
