Harry Lee Corprew Jr., affectionately known as Junior, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering commitment. Born on October 20, 1953, to the late Harry Lee Corprew Sr. and his cherished mother, Mary Eliza Clark Corprew, Junior was a gift to his family and a cherished friend to many.
From an early age, Junior discovered his passion for operating bulldozers, a craft that would become his lifelong calling. He found immense joy in shaping the earth, clearing paths, and building foundations that would endure for generations. His skill behind the machine was unmatched, and his reputation for excellence preceded him.
Junior's dedication and craftsmanship were evident in his work with several esteemed companies, including First Colony, Outer Banks Contractors, Southern Lifestyles, Barn Hill, Sawyers Land Development, and Branch Civil. Wherever he went, he left behind not only well-built roads and leveled land but also a reputation for honesty, dependability, and unparalleled expertise.
Despite the challenges of working in various weather conditions, from scorching summer sun to biting winter winds, Junior remained steadfast and committed. His unwavering dedication and humility inspired others, not only by his mastery of his trade but also by his willingness to share his knowledge freely. Junior taught others the true art of bulldozer operation, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to learn from him.
Junior's life was a testament to the power of love, dedication, and the unwavering pursuit of one's passions. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
But his talents extended far beyond his professional endeavors. He possessed a warm and generous heart that was deeply committed to giving back to his community. Never one to consider the cost, he often donated his time and equipment to churches and community projects, doing the work not for monetary gain, but out of love and pride in assisting others. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of everyone he encountered.
Outside of his work, he was renowned for his famous wood-cooked chicken and barbecue-flavors that brought people together from near and far. Whether it was a church event, a community fundraiser, or a family gathering, he was always present at the grill, doing what he loved and ensuring that no one left hungry. Regardless of what he attempted, he gave it his all, and it always turned out just right. His greatest pleasure lay in simple, meaningful moments-working hard, cooking delicious food, and spending quality time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. His family was his pride and purpose, and every moment shared with them was a treasure. He also had a profound love for music. He often filled the air with traditional gospel artists and soul music, including Roy C and Sam Cooke. Selected songs resonated with his soul, serving as reminders of faith, love, and the beauty of everyday life.
Working with people from all walks of life, he earned respect through patience, humor, and quiet strength. His steady presence provided comfort, his laughter brought joy, and his generosity left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He was the proud husband to Joy Lue Corprew, the light and heart of his home, whose love and devotion were his greatest blessings. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and faith. He was a loving father to Harry Corprew III (Tonya)- Washington, N.C., Thomas Corprew (Keiana)- Greenville, N.C., Jason Corprew (Zolly)- Wilson, N.C. , and Robin Peele - Greenville, N.C., all of whom carry his strength, kindness, and spirit forward. He also leaves behind his cherished siblings - Donald Corprew Pinetown, N.C., Brenda Fulcher (Melvin) Chocowinity, N.C., Mary Satchell Pinetown, N.C., and a sister-in-law Jewelette Nixon (Jimmy) Rocky Hock, N.C. and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Harry Lee Corprew Sr. and Mary Eliza Corprew, whose guidance and love shaped the man he became. The bond he shared with his mother was particularly special - they shared the same birthday. What a wonderful gift. Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace knowing that his time here is over. He now rests in eternal peace, reunited with his parents and son Johnathon Peele. Surely, his parents and son are welcoming him home.
His life was one of purpose, generosity, and love, a reminder that true greatness lies not in wealth or titles, but in how one gives, works, and loves. Forever remembered, deeply missed, and always loved.
