Barbara May Crimmin (98), passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024 surrounded by the love of her family. Barbara - a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother "Geeg", "Gigi", Aunt Barbie and dear friend to so many. Barbara was the known matriarch of the Crimmin family and leaves behind an unmatched legacy of family, resilience and unwavering faith.
Born November 4, 1926, Barbara dedicated her life to raising six children in the close-knit community of Westbrook, Maine. Through the trials and tribulations of parenthood, her steadfast faith became a guiding light, leading her through both the best and worst of times.
Barbara embarked on a fulfilling career with the Salvation Army, serving as an office administrator in their downtown Portland offices. Her dedication and commitment were evident as she faithfully took the bus to and from work each day until her well-deserved retirement in May of 1992.
For almost thirty years, Barbara called Larrabee Village home, earning her the affectionate title of the "Mayor of Larrabee." Accompanied by her sweet dog, Cappy, Barbara became a familiar and beloved presence as they strolled through the halls and grounds, warmly greeting everyone they encountered. Cappy, the friendly companion, turned strangers into instant friends.
A proud founder and member of the Larrabee Ladies, Red Hatters, Barbara brought joy and camaraderie to her community. Coordinating lunches, trips, and volunteer activities, she fostered connections and shared laughter with those around her.
Beyond her numerous accomplishments, Barbara's unwavering faith in the Lord defined her character. Her faith was a source of strength during the roughest of times, and she generously shared it with family and friends throughout her lifetime. Barbara seized every opportunity to spread love, friendship and the message of faith to those she encountered.
