I purchased
Gulliver - the most beautiful, loyal, intelligent dog I´ve ever had - in 2009 from Barbara Deloge. She was a very nice and responsible lady. I´m very happy and blessed to have met her. She was also a wonderful breeder of Shetland Sheepdogs. Her dogs were handsome and beautiful and also had good temperaments. She was devoted to shetland sheepdogs and loved breeding, showing and participating in her Tri State Shetland Sheepdog Club.
A few months after bringing Gulliver home from Barbara´s
Gulliver and I went to a puppy training class nearby and had fun trying out agility on a little miniature course for the puppies. Once I found out that Gulliver would gladly do anything for a treat of chicken liver, learning anything was easy and enjoyable for him. I found an agility teacher online - Paulette- who knew Barbara and we took agility lessons with her for two years. Paulette would watch Gulliver and comment "girl, you lucked out!" It was me who needed all the training as I had no idea what I was doing! We began going to agility trials and Gulliver did incredibly well. Sometimes I would trip and fall going around a course and motion for Gulliver to go on and finish and He did! - perfectly. It was magical and great fun. I really felt Gulliver´s success in agility was all due to Barbara Deloge and Gulliver´s excellent breeding. After 5 years competing in AKC agility, Gulliver had 500+ double Qs, 16 Master Agility Champion titles, a Century
Fast Class title, and he qualified for the AKC Agility Invitational 3 years in a row by finishing
in points in the top five shetland sheep dogs in the country. Wow, we had a great time! Barbara and Emile loved coming to nearby trials to watch and Gulliver loved seeing them.
Gulliver retired from agility when he was 6 to have a glorious time in leading a simple life at home enjoying everything. One of his favorite things was to sit and watch me load the dishwasher! I remember
that Barbara had the puppies in a little fenced in enclosure in her kitchen, near the dishwasher when I went to pick up Gulliver as a puppy at her house. He must have watched all the chores she did. Later, when I brought him home he made sure I did all the chores at my house too! I also remember that Barbara had some beautiful long haired cats. I know that Gulliver must have watched them also as a puppy. Every morning at my house Gulliver would groom himself just like a cat!
I hope Barbara is in peace and happiness now. I´m eternally grateful for having met Barbara and for having the opportunity to own one of her wonderful dogs!
Sincerely,
Barbara A Celkupa Herrick

Barbara and I were fellow members of a dog club, and I have fond memories of Barbara being a good sport and volunteering to work at the club's events, even if they were activities in which she did not herself participate. While I never had a dog from Barbara, I've certainly known very nice Shetland Sheepdogs from her breedings. I will miss Barbara.
