Colby - Barbara DeVault passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the Waterford in Colby.
She was born on December 12, 1936, to Mary L. Chesemore Beaty and Logan W. Beaty of Cazenovia, Wisconsin. She was the 11th child out of 12 children. She attended White Elementary School and Cazenovia High School.
She married Roger DeVault on May 18, 1957, at the Methodist Church in Cazenovia. They had two children, Joseph and Tamela. They lived in Cazenovia, Madison, Middleton, and eventually made their home in Phillips, Wisconsin. After Roger passed, Martin Bulin of LaValle became her special friend.
Barb was a happy person, full of fun with a great sense of humor. She was asked once what her secret to looking so young was and replied, "I guess I laugh a lot." She had a gift for making everyone feel special and accepted. She made friends everywhere she went, always finding something of interest in other people and making them feel like nothing mattered but what they had to say. She had a special love for any child who was in her vicinity.
She was an avid collector of anything old, unusual, whimsical, and funny, whether it was valuable or not. She kept binders filled with jokes and inspirational sayings and always focused on the positive. She loved sunny days and always seemed to be in a good mood, relaxed, and easygoing.
She operated on Barbara time, which was an interpretation of time unknown to the rest of us. She did not worry about other people's approval but lived her life doing what she loved and wanted to do, which included being kind and caring about others. The only thing she loved more than going to garage sales and flea markets was her family and making them wait on her and run on Barbara Time.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, daughter Tamela Arquette, brothers and sisters, and friend, Martin Bulin.
She is survived by her son Joseph DeVault (Carol), son-inlaw Jerry Arquette, grandchildren Duston Arquette, Derek Arquette (Christina), Douglas DeVault, Lindsey Ross (Collin), great-grandson Mack Justin Ross, honorary grandchildren Mia and Marshall Bulin, sister Pat Clark, and brother Stephen Beaty.
Funeral services for Barbara will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the Cazenovia Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the chapel.
