JoAnn DeVault Obituary
JoAnn graduated from Central High School and later from the University of Evansville School of Nursing in 1981. She started her nursing career at Welborn Hospital where she worked for 10 years. JoAnn retired from Deaconess Hospital in 2020 after 38 years, ending her career as a nurse case manager. She had a passion for cooking, especially for family meals. JoAnn liked spending time reading, crafting and watching Hallmark movies. Most of all she loved the time she spent with her family, especially attending the sports and activities of her grandchildren.
JoAnn is survived by her husband of 43 years, Robert DeVault, whom she married September 11, 1982 in Evansville; daughter, Christina (Ryan) Wilson; granddaughters, Hadley and Cora Wilson; grandson, Luke Wilson; sister-in-law, Sharon Martin; nieces and nephews, April (Rob) Hahn, Brandon Bradley (Megan Poage), Phelicia Bradley, Jacob (Gabby) Hahn, Kristen (Neil) Hahn, Katherine Hahn, Bill (Stacia) Martin, Tyler Martin, Zach Martin, Mia Martin, and Randall Pruitt; and many other beloved family members.
In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by her son, Brian Michael DeVault; mother-in-law, Mary DeVault; brother, Mike Martin; uncles, Dave DeVault and Paul DeVault; and nephew, Troy Bradley.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2025 at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 N. First Ave., Evansville. A Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at the funeral home with Reverend Tim Garrett officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Chemo Buddies, 3700 Bellemeade Avenue, Suite 118, Evansville, IN 47714.
The family expresses their gratitude to Jan, Jamie and Christy with Deaconess Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of JoAnn.
