Barbara Renee DeWeese
Our family is heartbroken to announce that after a very brief but intense battle with cancer, Barb passed away peacefully at her home with her family and friends by her side on Thursday April 17th, 2025.
Barb was born in Yakima, WA on Aug 16th, 1960, to Ross and Linda DeWeese. Barb grew up in Tieton, WA and for most of her adult life she worked as a Shipping & Receiving Manager; which is where she made some wonderful longtime friends through out the years.
If you had the pleasure of knowing Barb, then you knew she loved with a huge heart! She had a witty banter and a quick sense of humor! Barb loved to speak her mind and give her opinion! If you asked Barb, she was always right. Barb made sure her and Marc's home was always open to those they loved. Barb loved having her "get togethers" and looked for any reason to have a party. Barb was a true friend and was always there to offer a helping hand. If she could see herself through our eyes, she would realize just how special she was to each and every one of us. Barb was an amazing person that is going to be difficult to leave behind and impossible to replace.
Barb loved slot machines & pull tabs! She could never resist a fun trip to Vegas or other casinos! We kept telling her once she got a little better & could ride in a wheelchair, we would take her to Pendleton & let her play slot machines. She never did make it back there, so the next time you are at Wildhorse Casino, play a slot machine in memory of Barb.
Barb was known for her passion for traveling with Marc and friends/family. They had an annual month-long trip to Kaanapali Beach for 19 years! They even "survived" the 2018 false missile alert in Hawaii, but that didn't stop them from going the next 5 years! Barb absolutely loved going to Disneyland! Being an adult didn't stop her & Marc from going, just those two! She and Ashton even went to Disneyland twice in one year! She never missed a chance to spoil her grandsons whenever she could! Those two boys were lucky to have their Granny Barb.
Mom's family & friends will forever have special memories to hang on to and reminisce on, whether it was a fun memory from Vegas, Jamaica, Hawaii, Disneyland, or just a fun night hanging out in the shop or lounging out back by the pool! Mom was a very sociable person and loved going places and seeing friends. She never liked to sit in one place for long. Always on the go! Her & Marc loved taking trips together! All you had to do was look at the photos and see the joy in their smiles! Their suitcases were seldom empty as they were always planning their next vacation, and for this, Marc will have many loving memories to cherish.
Barb is survived by her loving partner of 20 years Marc Desmarais, her daughters Jennifer DeWeese and Jessica (Mark) Ramynke and along with her two grandsons Jordan Traylor and Ashton DeWeese. She was also survived by her brother Marty DeWeese and sister Christy (Jim) Norvell and many many friends!
Mom was everyone's "best friend", no matter who you ask! Also mention a special Thank You to those of you who were here for Barb & our family in the end, just having others close to love on her as much as we did helped immensely.
Mom would be upset if we forgot to mention that she is also survived by her feral cats that she fed daily and absolutely loved to watch!! While in the hospital, she would say was "I can't wait to see my cats". Most people would be mad about strays getting dumped, but not Mom, she just bought more cat food & made another bed!! I even remember this last Christmas; Mom gave her cats prime rib so that they had a good Christmas meal. In the last couple months, we started feeding the cats at the front of the house, so Mom could watch them through the big living room windows. It just made her day to see her cats! Don't worry Barb, we will take care of your cats.
Barb was preceded in death by her brother Mike DeWeese, father Ross DeWeese and recently by her mother Linda McGrew.
Remember that Mothers are like glue. Even when you can't see them, they're still holding the family together.
Sixty-Four years on this Earth was not enough for a person as amazing as Barb! It's true when they say, "God takes the good ones first".
Love, not cancer, defined the last few months of Mom's life.
In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to Davebusterrescues.com. They rescue newborn kittens and in the last days of Moms life, they took in 3 newborn kittens that were abandoned & we didn't have the time or resources to care for. Not only did they care for the kittens, but they also made sure to send videos of the kittens to Mom.
