Barbara Ruth DeWitt passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026 in Dickinson, ND.
Barbara was born on August 29, 1951, in Hamilton, Ontario, and proudly carried her Canadian heritage throughout her life. She was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where her faith shaped her character, compassion, and dedication to others. Throughout her life, Barbara joyfully served within her church community, helping with programs, supporting activities, and being a steady source of kindness and strength to those around her.
A hard worker with an entrepreneurial spirit, Barbara began her career in restaurant service at a young age and later operated her own babysitting business. She went on to excel in sales with Jafra Cosmetics, earning recognition among the top sales teams. Barbara later became a manager with 7-Eleven, where she successfully ran and helped hire teams for multiple store locations. After retiring, she devoted her time to her greatest joy - helping care for her grandchildren.
Barbara lived a life of service, devotion, and love. She was deeply involved in her church-run sports programs, supporting volleyball, basketball, baseball, and more. She also enjoyed sewing baby blankets and sharing her love through baking delicious banana bread and pies. Above all else, Barbara cherished her family and was especially proud to be a mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Sharla Stone (Tyrel), Sheryl DeWitt, and Tristen DeWitt (Liliana); her siblings, Robert Jones (Katherine), Tom Jones (Rhonda), Michael Jones (Laura), and Sheryl Pagnotta (John); her 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered by many extended family members, friends, and church family.
Barbara is reunited in heaven with her husband, Norman DeWitt; her sons, Jason DeWitt and Jarren DeWitt; her daughter, Thora Jane DeWitt; and her parents, Vernon Harold Jones and Thora Leah Jones.
Barbara's life was defined by faith, resilience, generosity, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
