Barbara Elaine Durkee, age 81 of Yardley, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 21, 2024 at Artis Senior Living of Yardley. Born in Yardley, PA, she had been a lifelong resident of Levittown and Fallsington, PA.
Barbara was a graduate of Pennsbury High School, Class of 1959. She was formerly employed as a medical secretary with the offices of Dr. Harvey Mogul in Levittown, Dr. James Harris in Levittown and Dr. Thomas Costello in Fairless Hills. She loved planting flowers and took great pleasure in tending her gardens. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Barbara was the daughter of the late Geroge and Jennie (Reed) Else, she was the wife of the late Michael J. Durkee for 37 years and the late David M. Read for 14 years. She was the sister of the late Joan Taylor and Judith Else. Barbara is survived by her son Michael J. Durkee III of Levittown, PA, her daughter and son-in-law Andrea and Daniel Hagerman of Yardley, PA, sisters Eva Mae Rathmell of Ottsville, PA and Mary Jane Cook of Whiting, NJ. She was “Nanny” to five grandchildren Michael, Zachary and Ryan Durkee, Kristine Kelly and Nate Hagerman, six great grandchildren Scarlett, Zachary, Jr., Riley, Callum, Aiden, Bailey, and several nieces and nephews, who all lovingly called her “Aunt Barbie”
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Barbara’s memorial service on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024 at 11 AM at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA 19067. Her interment will follow in Morrisville Cemetery.
Friends may call on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024 from 10-11 AM at the funeral chapel.
