Barbara Faye Dushane

Barbara Faye DuShane (Sturgeon) 84 of Franklin, Indiana. Born Nov. 19th, 1940 in Shelbyville, Indiana, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday Feb. 10th, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents, Noah Walton Sturgeon and Lydia Mann Sturgeon as well as son, James William Bruce. and son-in-law William Newman. She is survived by three children, Lori Lea Newman and Dale Russell Bruce of Franklin and Linda Dawn Griffin (Mark) of Idaho. 4 grandchildren, Sarah Wade (Craig), Zac Holbert (Danya), Joseph Newman and Zeph Bruce. 3 great grandchildren, Maelyah, Jacob and Matthew Wade. Along with Brothers Roscoe Sturgeon (Susan Walker), and Gerry Sturgeon (Nora) as well as 3 Nephews and 1 Neice.
Barb retired from a life long career as an X-Ray Technician and Mammographer. She studied at Sunset Bible College and School of Missions in Lubbock, Texas. Over the years she served as a missionary in Pago Pago, American Samoa, Grodno, Belarus and the Dominican Republic.
In retirement Barbara continued to minister to others teaching Adult Sunday School and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ from her home. Barbara was a key leader in the Journey Group Ministry. In this ministry she walked along side and cared for people in pain the way Jesus modeled. Barb was a strong and caring leader hearing stories of pain, leading folks to healing, hope and redemption. She also lovingly served her community as a Hospice Chaplain while enduring 20 years of her own journey with cancer.
Her greatest Joy in life was serving others but most all her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Services through Jessen Funeral Home will be held Friday, Feb 14, 2025 at the Turning Point Church, 3600 N. Morton Street, Franklin, Indiana 46131, with visitation held 12-2 p.m. service following immediately after.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Turning Point Church Missions.
