Thomas Dushane, 75, of Gloversville, NY, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Nathan Littauer Hospital.
Thomas Dushane was born on August 8th, 1949, in Lake Pleasant, New York. During his childhood, he lived in various area homes until finally settling with Dorothy and Lynn Galusha of Lewey Lake. Tom remained with the Galusha's until age 21 when he was inducted as Private 1st class for the National Defense Service in the United States Army. During this time, he served in Germany where he received a Service medal. He was honorably discharged in 1972.
Tom met Madeline Quinn in early 1975, and the two were married soon after, on Christmas Eve at St. Marys Catholic Church in Gloversville NY. In addition to becoming a husband, Tom became the father of two obstinate little girls that day. On August 18th, 1976, they welcomed a son to complete their family. Tom and Madeline shared 45 years of laughter, tears, faith, and love with their three children, who in turn blessed them with 6 beautiful grandchildren and 7 equally beautiful great-grandchildren. He worked diligently without complaint in various jobs until his retirement. Tom lost his wife in 2021 and mourned her passing every day after. Both Tom and his wife were dearly loved and will be missed by their family and all who knew them.
My father was all the things that I strive to be in life. Loyal, honest, hard-working... the things that are the measure of a man he didn't strive to live up to, he simply did them. All of these things he didn't teach with words Tom had 3 lonely years for a soul who loved our mother, treated her good and missed her. But as these years of our nation proceeded, he was my family member to listen and say, "now that's a crock of shit. "On many subjects. And yes, he humored me in our nightly calls I am really going to miss. He remained my cheerleader believing that I truly believed the tales I told, and would laugh before his comment, came out of his mouth. And then we would both laugh. Tom was secure in his beliefs, as we all are I do believe. Momma has him with her now, And Tom, you know we loved you. And you shall ever be missed and remembered. Goodnight, to Terry and mine's dearest second father. Tommy, you truly had one of the best. We all will have our season, and we all will have our dash. And Tom lived a life that was special because he got the family he never really had, and we got a man who loved us unconditionally, with the respect we all deserved. That in itself was a hero, who lived his years with the dash to be proud of.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 5pm to 6pm at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY 12078. A service of remembrance will take place at 6pm with Father Matthew Wetsel officiating. A private interment will take place in the spring at Union Rural Cemetery in Mayfield, NY.
