Barbara Efurd

Barbara J. Hanchey Efurd passed away on December 25, 2025. Barbara is survived by her husband Randy Efurd; sons: Aaron (Paige), Nolan (Yvette), and Corley Efurd (Akemi); five grandchildren: Brooks, George, Kyle, Una, Katie.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Eva Gene Hanchey; her father, Jefferson S. Hanchey; her brother Jeff Hanchey; and her two sons: John and Adam Efurd.

Barbara was born on January 28, 1948, in Elizabeth, Louisiana. She graduated from Byrd High School in Shreveport, LA and later the University of Arkansas ('69). After graduation, she became a CPA, a field in which she would excel and work until she retired. She was an incredibly hard worker and devoted wife and mother. She was married to the love of her life, Randy, for 49 years. Most important to her was her faith in Jesus Christ. It was this faith that created a strong marriage, a loving family, and a drive to help others. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving and strong woman and a beacon of light to all who knew her. Her death is made bearable knowing she is in Heaven and upon her arrival she was greeted with well done, good and faithful servant.

There will be no public memorial service. Two private gatherings will be held in Houston and Dallas with her friends and family to celebrate and honor her life.
