Barbara W. Ehland 86, of Mt. Lebanon, PA, passed peacefully with her loving daughters by her side on May 18, 2023, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Loving wife of the late Richard Ehland; beloved mother of Kathleen Beggy (Tim Ribstein) and Suzanne DeRubeis (PJ); cherished grandmother to Jack and Quinn Beggy, Nicholas, Matthew and Luke DeRubeis, Connor and Lexi Ribstein. Sister of the late Robert Wagner (Marian). Barbara is also survived by her treasured nephews Richard Wagner, David Wagner (Liz), Peter Wagner, Edward Wagner (Monica) John Wagner (Hallie) and many other extended family and lifelong friends.
Barbara was born on September 10, 1936 to Robert and Sarah Wagner, in Pittsburgh. After graduation from Mt. Lebanon High School, Barbara attended Mercyhurst College. In 1971, Barbara met her husband, Richard Ehland, on a blind date. The two fell in love, marrying on June 12, 1971. Barbara and Richard went on to have two cherished daughters.
Life was an adventure for Barbara. Always active and energetic, Barbara skied through Europe as a young woman as a member of the Pittsburgh Ski Club. She played tennis, and later in life, learned Pickleball and joined the Wolfpack Parkinson's Boxing Group. A faithful and devout member of St. Anne's Parish Church, Barbara enjoyed singing in the choir. Barbara was often spotted driving around town in her signature VW convertible, soaking in the sun. Barbara made everyone feel welcome when they came to her home. She was known for her tremendous baked goods, delicious meals, dedication to lifelong friends and faith in God. Above all else, Barbara's greatest happiness in life was caring for her family. Being a mother was one of the most important parts of Barbara's life, a role that gave her so much pride and happiness. This joy extended to Barbara's role as a grandmother. From the beginning, she never missed an opportunity to babysit or attend a sporting event. She treasured time with her family on vacations, appreciating each moment with her grandchildren and daughters. Nurturing, strong, warm, devout, and kind-hearted, Barbara will be terribly missed but her family finds comfort that she is finally at peace.
