Barbara Del Hunt Fels, 88, of Jonesboro, formerly of Pine Bluff, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, August 28, 2025 in Jonesboro at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born September 21, 1936 in Pine Bluff to Leo Hunt and Evelyn Case Hunt.
Barbara was very musically talented. She played the clarinet in the Pine Bluff High School Band. Barbara later played for several years in the Pine Bluff Community Band and enjoyed it greatly. She was also an excellent pianist and organist and played at her church many times. Barbara attended college at State Teachers (which is UCA now). She married Jim Fels in 1958. Barbara later earned her Master's Degree in Education. Barbara taught 5th and 6th grade in the Pine Bluff school system for 39 years, with her last years teaching at Oak Park. She was quiet, but had a sharp sense of humor. Barbara attended Olive Street Baptist Church (now Olive Branch Baptist) all of her life, where she taught a ladies Sunday School class for many years.
Barbara loved her niece and nephew Clarice and Lowery Beck like they were her own children. She also loved her three nephews Stephen, David, and Chris Beck very much.
Barbara moved to Jonesboro with her sister LaNelle Beck in 2020. She lived in St. Bernard's Village, and then St. Bernard's Villa which she loved. The family would like to thank the staff at the Village, and Lynn Howerton and staff at the Villa for taking such good care of our Aunt. They would like to thank the staff at the St Bernard's Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House for their kindness and love.
Preceding her in death were her parents Leo and Evelyn Hunt; husband, Jim Fels; and sister, June LaNelle Beck.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Ralph Robinson & Son. Rev. Mike Powell will officiate. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 AM until funeral time Saturday.
