We have been near neighbors to Barbara and Guinn for 12 years. Barbara always had a smile, a twinkle in her eye and a cheerful, "Hello, neighbor!"
She was a good friend to many neighbors on the block. I remember her long friendship with our next door neighbor, Jeannie. She would run down to help Jeannie with any need that she had, at the drop of a hat.
Her devotion and care for Daniel and all of her family was evident in every conversation. When Daniel passed suddenly, Barbara was shaken but I could see she meant to rally and continue to help others...which she successfully carried out. Just as she set her mind to do.
She loved her kitties and took such good care of them. I met her in the alley on two occasions when a kitty went missing, as she searched and called for them, and joining her in her search, we looked together while she talked about Mama Kitty or Poppy. She loved plants and flowers .. and wind chimes.
Every fall, she began gearing up for the Angel Tree drive and we saw her coming and going with many Christmas boxes. By Christmas, I thought she would appear looking worn out...but no. Barbara delighted in caring for others. She touched many people, both here and abroad through her faithful efforts, all while she spent many hours day and night in her very careful and faithful way, to see that Daniel lacked or suffered nothing that she and Guinn could provide. We've made a memorial donation to the Christmas box program, though I believe I missed the opportunity to see it recorded as a memorial in her name.
The last two times I saw Barbara, she was extending grace to me as a neighbor. At Christmas, after she received her diagnosis, she offered to care for some animals for us so we could go to a long overdue Christmas and birthday celebration for our daughter. It meant a great deal to us, as we had been unable to find anyone to help. On the last day I saw her, she was "rescuing" me from being accidentally locked out of my house. I showed up at her house and knocked on the door to ask if I could borrow her phone so I could call my husband. She gladly provided me with a phone then she and Janiss gracefully sat outside and talked with me until he arrived.
We're going to miss Barbara very much but we have been delighted that we've known her for so long and we look forward to seeing her in heaven again.

Guinn and family, so sorry for your loss. Barbara was a wonderful loving person. I worked with her before Daniel had his accident. She just served the Lord in all she did. Holding you in my prayers,
