Barbara Brown Ferrier, 78, of
Irmo, South Carolina, entered her eternal rest on December 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. A devoted wife, mother, educator, and faithful servant of Christ, Barbara lived a life marked by quiet dignity, compassion, and a steadfast dedication to family and faith.
Born on October 10, 1947, in
Alexander City, Alabama, Barbara was the daughter of the late Charles Brown and Vera (Lloyd) Brown. She grew up surrounded by love, faith, and small-town values that would shape her lifelong character. Barbara graduated from Presbyterian College. Her education at PC as a Blue Hose, instilled in her both a love for learning and a deep appreciation for truth and grace - values she carried into every part of her life.
Barbara served as an English teacher for 33 years, sharing her passion for literature and learning with generations of students. Her classroom was a place of inspiration and encouragement, where she nurtured the hearts and minds of her pupils. Her colleagues and students remember her calm presence, gentle wisdom, and that her soft-spoken nature carried great influence.
Barbara was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Richard Ferrier, with whom she shared a loving 30-year union filled with mutual respect, laughter, and devotion. Together, they built a home grounded in love for family and in joyful service to God.
Faith was the cornerstone of Barbara's life. She belonged to the Resurrection Church community in Irmo. Barbara expressed her love for Scripture and people through her many years of involvement in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF). As a group leader, Barbara guided countless women in their spiritual journeys, offering her insight with the same warmth and humility that characterized every part of her being.
Those who knew Barbara best speak of her as a woman who radiated peace and sincerity. Her genuine smile, her soft laughter, and her thoughtful words left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. She was deeply family-focused, cherishing time spent with her children and grandchildren, finding joy in their accomplishments and comfort in their company. Her love of travel reflected her curiosity about the world and her appreciation for God's creation. Her hobbies included traveling, gardening and feeding the many birds that visited her yard.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Richard Ferrier; her brother, George Brown; her children, Zachary (Alison) Taylor, Gregory (Elizabeth) Taylor, Anissa (Dennis) Straw, Kevin (Toni) Ferrier, and Christine (Chris) Thornhill; along with her 13 beloved grandchildren, a great grandson, and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins who will carry forward her legacy of faith, grace, and kindness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vera Mae and Charles Brown; her brother, Charles Brown; her sister, Mary (Brown) Davis; and her grandson Kenneth Misko.
A memorial service celebrating Barbara's life will be held Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Point Church, 11241 Broad River Rd,

Barbara Brown Ferrier will be remembered for her wisdom, her unshakable faith, and the peace she brought to every life she touched. Her voice, though soft, spoke volumes - a reflection of a life beautifully lived and a heart forever at rest.
