Barbara was born on March 29, 1942, to the late Russell Alexander and Elizabeth Cooper Wallace in Beaumont, Texas. Coming from a large family, Barbara always wanted that for herself. On December 29, 1971, Barbara married Robert Eugene Flebbe, giving her daughter Missie, three brothers and soon thereafter another sister, Beverly. With Barbara, family always came first. Barbara not only loved her children but also loved her nieces, nephews, cousins and neighbors, who were always welcome in her home.
Barbara had a feisty personality and the soul of an artist. She was crafty and creative, spending time painting, sewing, crocheting and quilting. She was a member of Tall Pines Quilt Guild in Huntsville, Texas and enjoyed attending quilt shows and spending time with friends.
Barbara was also adventurous. She never got lost, she just took detours and would eventually get where she was going. She loved spending time with her sisters and attending and organizing the family reunion. Barbara worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice where she set up and opened the mail room at the Neal Unit. Long before that she built a library for special needs children at a school in Lumberton. She was generous with her time and love and at one-point coached soccer and kept score for softball for her daughters. Food was Barbara’s love language and she loved to feed everyone. Her home was always open and welcoming.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Eugene Flebbe; son, Robert Bruce Flebbe; sisters, Margaret Webb, Mary Ellen Menge, Sue Elizabeth Davis, and Dorothy Peyton; brother, Robert Wallace; and cousin, Mimi Foster.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Flebbe and wife, Laura, and Timothy Flebbe; daughters, Melissa Springer and husband, Brian, and Beverly Smith; brother, William Wallace and wife, Jane; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
