Barbara Jean Berry Aughinbaugh Freeman peacefully departed this life May 22, 2025 at the remarkable age of 100 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born on April 18, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan. After her 1951 marriage to Tom Aughinbaugh, Barbara set a foundation for a life rich in love, resilience, and purpose. Barbara and Tom spent several years in the Midwest before moving to Bethesda, Maryland in 1956. Barbara devoted herself to nurturing her family and friends while creating a warm, loving home.

When Tom retired, they relocated to Stuart, Florida for a life filled with friends, family, golf, swimming, travel, and everything they never had time for in the past.

Several years after Tom’s passing, Barbara was fortunate to find love again with Bill Freeman. Their union eventually brought them to Jacksonville, where the couple enjoyed companionship and shared experiences until Bill’s passing.

Barbara leaves behind cherished memories steeped in her infectious humor, her genuine care for others, and her unwavering interest in the well-being of those she loved. Her quick wit and joyous spirit will forever be remembered by her beloved daughter, Nancy Jordan; her grandchildren, Faith (Liam) Kenny, and Brad (Megan) Jordan, her step-son Gary Freeman (Hugh McCall), and her great grandchildren Alec, Tristan, and Lauren. She was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Kile and her son-in-law Randy Jordan.

Barbara cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. In every smile she wore, in every joke she shared and, in every story, she told, she fostered a legacy of love and laughter that will resonate through generations. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, let us hold close the gifts she has bestowed upon us—the art of humor, the significance of family, and the joy of living with an open heart.
