Barbara Gintzel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Lapeer on Feb. 25, 2026.
Barbara L. Gintzel (Lesley), age 84, of Saint Petersburg, Florida and Lapeer, Michigan, (formerly Overland Park, Kansas), beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully in the comforts of her daughters home in Lapeer on February 19, 2026. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 10, 1941.

Barbara was the proud owner of a charming bookshop in New York City in her early years, a venture that reflected her lifelong love of books and learning. Her greatest joy, however, was her family, especially her two children, whom she cherished and supported unconditionally.

An avid cook, Barbara found joy in the kitchen, and her love of dancing and music brought light and laughter to those around her. She was known for her creativity and resourcefulness, always finding clever ways to solve problems and make life more enjoyable. Whether repurposing household items, designing practical solutions for everyday challenges, or inventing camping gear to keep her family warm on cold nights, she approached life with ingenuity and determination.

She stayed closely connected with her family throughout her life, always ready with a listening ear, thoughtful advice, and unwavering encouragement. She never missed an opportunity to say "I love you," and her steady support was a gift that will be cherished forever. Her interest in natural health and her involvement with her church community were meaningful parts of her life.

Above all, her legacy is one of love, warmth, resilience, and deep devotion to her family. The bond she shared with her children was profound, and the memories they created together will remain a lasting source of comfort and gratitude. Her compassionate spirit and the love she shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Barbara is survived by her daughter Gabrielle Taube of Lapeer, Michigan and son Clifford (Alyssa) Wells of Saint Petersburg, Florida; her grandchildren Braeden Taube, Holden Taube, Preston Wells, and Eliana Wells; brother Don (Sherry) Lasley; sisters Mary Simpson, Cheryl Lasley, Joyce (Dave) Worthington, and Joanne Lasley.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Raymond & Edna Lasley and her husband William Gintzel.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer.
