Our Seton Class of 1964 was always so proud of our "school sister" Barbara. Her academic talent was notable even in high school. Her kind spirit and warm personality personified everything good about our high school. In college, her sister, Lauren, was my roommate at Towson for a semester. My heart goes out to her and all of the family.

My condolences! I well remember the family from my grade school days in Landover Hills, MD. Lost track of her sister, we were friends. Her mom knew my mom. Eternal Rest grant unto her Oh Lord and let Your Perpetual Light shine upon her. May her soul Rest In Peace. Amen. (I am in Lusby, MD, and an ESHS grad as well.) Prayers for all. Susan K. Shryock Ude

For me, Bobby was a classmate, who lived on the same floor in the dorm, and we were in the same clinicals in our second year. We were roommates for one year, along with Cherie Turk. She and Paul opened their home for our reunions and helped to make arrangements for gatherings at the Hopkins Club. She was a person who hosted family and friends through the years. She worked briefly as a public health nurse before moving back to Baltimore. She then worked in Osler. She and Paul raised 10 children; 5 were birth children and 5 were adopted. She had a break from working outside of the home, but certainly not a break from working....while managing home and children. She started to work part-time as a school nurse in 1984 when a position was created because of an epidemic of head lice. She said, "I owe my new career to lice." She went back to school full-time in 1990 to get a degree in anthropology. In 1992 while still in college, she took a part-time position at Hopkins as a research assistant at the Center for American Indian and Alaska Native Health. She, also, worked with supporting international students...helping with paper work, providing social activities and trips, etc Seeking employment at Hopkins was strategic. It provided tuition benefits for her children. After utilizing those benefits, I think, for each of her 10 kids, Hopkins may have changed their policies. Bobby said she would have taken a job in housekeeping to get those benefits. Her pay at Hopkins was modest, but the tuition benefits were great. When many of you moved out of state for work, school, love, etc, Bobby stayed in Baltimore. We talked on the phone regularly, and stayed in touch. She always sent handwritten thank you notes. Never ran out of suggestions for places to go for lunch, contractors for home repairs, books to read or movies. She is one of many friends who I met at Hopkins; I will miss her.

I smile whenever I think of Bobby. Back in the ´80s, simply watching her with her own children taught me so much about mothering. I could never bring myself to whine about parenting, knowing she was handling so many more children with such quiet grace. She leaves quite a legacy, not only to her family, but to all who knew her. My deepest, most heartfelt prayers to each and every one of you.

I will always remember when Bobby announced that she and Paul were going to adopt more children I knew that was a big increase in the family.
Being one of 12 children I decided to have a shower for Bobby.
