Barbara Ola Governale was born in DeRidder, LA on November 29 1948. Died March 1, 2025 in Corsicana, TX.
She graduated from DeRidder High School in 1966 and attended Northwestern State University where she received her bachelor's in education and her Master's degree in special education.
She worked for over 40 years for the Vernon Parish School Board in the Special Education department as an educational diagnostician.
She is proceeded in death by her parents L.B. "Frenchy" and Sethie Cole Governale; and her brother-in-law Henry A.A. Schulz.
She is survived by her 4 sons: Chris Terrell and wife Patricia of Corsicana, Texas, Dr. Kevin Terrell of Dallas, Texas, Kade Terrell and wife Danielle of Groveland, Florida, Lucien "Trey" Mixon and wife Natalie of Giesmar, Lousiana.
8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Her siblings: Gary Governale (Ann), Debra Lockerman (Stuart) and Jackie Schulz and 7 nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Texas Avenue Baptist Church.
One of Barbara's greatest joys was giving a voice to children who had no one else to speak for them. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends, traveling, shopping, and buying shoes.
Barbara's sons would like to thank the staff at MD Anderson in Houston, TX and the Village at Heritage Oaks in Corsicana, TX for their care.
And a very special thank you to mom's best friend, Lucy Baros. Thank you for everything!
There will be a private family graveside service at a later date.
