Barbara Gray Obituary It pains our family to say that Barbara Eleanor (Brown) Gray, 87 of Rowley, MA, and longtime resident of New Hampshire has passed away. She was reunited with her daughter Elizabeth Ann (Jewett) Hutchinson in heaven on September 20, 2023.
Barbara was born on September 28, 1935, in Ipswich MA, to the late Eva and Ernest Brown.
She was one of three children; she would playfully tease her "gullible" younger sister the late Marion (Brown) Schwechheimer and rough house with her "spoiled" older brother the late Robert Brown. Barbara was very outspoken, daring and sassy. She would say things that would make us all be embarrassed to be seen with her, say things that could cause trouble, say things that we all were thinking but WE knew it wasn't appropriate to say. She made a lot of people laugh from her humor. Even though she had a hard exterior, she was a beautiful person on the inside. She was sensitive, caring and giving. She was a tough woman who raised her only child by herself in an era where it was frowned upon and uncommon. To support her daughter and herself she worked at Sylvania for quite some years. She ended up working at Bailey Corporation in Seabrook, New Hampshire for 29 years until she ended up retiring in 2000. Her retirement years she ramped up her playing scratch tickets, Keno and the mega millions. She would smoke her cigarettes, drink a beer in the yard and play with her dog Rascal. When football season came, she would cheer on her two favorite teams the Green Bay Packers and the New England Patriots. She also enjoyed watching baseball cheering on our home team the Boston Red Sox. Without her knowing she's made a big impact on everyone's life around her, for just being who she was.
She was loved by so many people and is already terribly missed. We hope God is ready to have his hands full and ready to laugh. Cause no one that knew her was ready to let her go.
She is survived by her 3 grandchildren Angela Downs of Sanford, Maine. Edwin Downs Jr of Pennsylvania. Jamie Breen of Keene, New Hampshire. She also has 8 great grandchildren Heather Junkins, Alyssa Junkins, Chevy Fortier, Natasha Fortier, Mylah Breen, Brennan Breen, Madaline Downs, and Charlotte Downs. She was also a great great-grandmother of 6.
A private family service will be taking place as it was Barbaras wishes. To light a memorial candle or to leave a message of condolence, please visit www.fsrobertsandson.com. Arrangements entrusted to F. S. Roberts & Son Funeral Home of Rowley.
