Barbara Annette Grimes was born on January 23rd, 1945. From the day she was born, Barbara was searching for a rich man, and on April 1st, 2025, she finally found one crossing over into the arms of Jesus.
With a zany sense of humor, Barbara never met a stranger, and made impressions on people everywhere she went. She particularly enjoyed driving in her red corvette, listening to “Purple Rain” by Prince, and being the reigning champion of Rook in the family.
Born to Luther and Azalea Young, Barbara was a loving sister and daughter. She then married Hillary Grimes, Sr. and became a loving wife and mother to Linda, Hillary Grimes, Jr. “Bubba,” Paula, Mary, and Bruce. Perhaps Barbara’s favorite role though, was that of Grandma, or “Gma” to her twelve grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed playing them in Dr. Mario, hosting tea parties, making them laugh, and giving them trinkets to brighten their day.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Azalea; her sister, Janice Farris; her son, Bruce Allen Grimes; and treasured daughter, Linda Annette Grimes-Kohr.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Hillary Herbert Grimes, Jr. “Bubba” and his wife, Rene of Repton, Alabama; and two daughters, Paula Davis and her husband, James of Weatherford, Texas, and Mary Barrera of Seguin, Texas; several grandchildren; and multiple great-grandchildren. Her family is grateful that she is fully healed in the arms of Jesus, and resting high on that mountain.
A memorial service celebrating Barbara's life will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, in Weatherford, Texas.
