It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Joyce Hackworth, of Bonne Terre, who went to her eternal home on Monday, December 29, 2025, at the age of 87. Barbara was born on Wednesday, May 25, 1938, she was an active and cherished member of the Bonne Terre Church of Christ.
Barbara was known for her warm spirit and her love for baking, often found in her kitchen making sweet treats, for family and friends through her extensive collection of recipes and cookbooks. She had a passion for sending cards and was a devoted pen pal, brightening the days of those she corresponded with. In her quieter moments, Barbara enjoyed capturing life's beautiful moments through photography, often sharing her precious pictures with her loved ones.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Stella (Mabery) Miller, her loving husband, Bill Hackworth; her only cherished son, Dwayne Hackworth; two brothers, Charles Miller and wife Marilyn, Norman Miller, Sr.; one sister, Wanda Gastineau and husband Guy Gastineau. Barbara is survived by her daughter-in-law, Julie Pratte Hackworth; grandson, Jason Hackworth; granddaughter, Jennifer Anderson and her husband Josh; two great-grandsons, Holden and Porter Anderson. sister-in-law, Mona Miller along with several nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer Funeral Home in Bonne Terre, on Friday, January 2, 2026 at 9:00 A.M. until service time of 11:00 A.M. Pastor Scott Readnour will be officiating the service, burial will follow at Bonne Terre Cemetery In honor of her generous spirit, the family welcomes anyone wishing to express their sympathy to consider making a memorial donation in Barbara’s name to Shriners Children Hospital in St. Louis, an organization she held dear to her heart.
