Barbara Suzanne Halverson



A 50+ year resident of Bloomington, MN died peacefully in her sleep on October 29, 2021, at the age of 84.



Barbara is survived by her brother, Jon Halverson; his wife Susan Halverson, her niece Molly Auseth (Sam); nephew Adam Halverson (Rhiana); great nieces and nephews Olivia and Dylan Auseth, Adriana, Ivy, Hudson and Wilder Halverson; stepdaughters Janet Wright and Joanne Wright (Gary). Preceded in death by husband James Wright; parents Gilbert and Gladys Halverson; brother Richard Halverson, longtime family friend Hitoshi Obi and stepdaughter Joyce Anderson.



Barbara was born in Granite Falls, MN on October 18, 1937, to Gilbert and Gladys Halverson. Graduate of GFHS in 1955. She then studied at the University of Minnesota receiving a degree in Mathematics & Engineering. Barbara was a female pioneer in this industry, working various jobs, some included Control Data, Univac and Network Systems. Projects included developing missiles for the Polaris submarines and the U.S Government in the 1950's and early 1960's.



Barbara enjoyed gardening and flower arranging. She judged floral arrangements at the MN State Fair. She entered many arrangements herself and has a basket full of blue ribbons. She enjoyed spending time with her garden club friends. She was very active with the Transfiguration Church of Bloomington. Barb and Jim would spend their days catering many events at the church and other private events.



A funeral service is scheduled for November 11, 2021, at the Transfiguration Church of Bloomington, MN. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM and the service will begin at 11:00 with a luncheon to follow.
