Daniel Pearce Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapels - Dawn Valley Chapel on Jan. 25, 2026.
Daniel Collins Pearce, age 67, of Bloomington passed away at his home on January 21, 2026, with his devoted wife, Maureen Pearce, by his side. Dan was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on February 3, 1958, to Nancy and James Pearce.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents and his infant son, Christian Pearce.

He is survived by his loving wife, Maureen Pearce; his stepsons David and Dylan; his stepdaughter Caitlin (Peterson) Gausman (partner Josh Dumas); and his grandchildren Bostin, Ryann, Elliott, and Camden. He is also survived by his sister, Cathie Pearce, and her family: Anthony (wife Lana; child Macy), Nicole (children Lauren, Danel, Isabel, and Lukas), and Taylor (wife Maria; children Zach, Conner, and Mackenzie); and by his brother, Thomas Pearce (wife Sue; children Tabitha (husband Luke Peters), Quincy, and Sophie). He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Dan was not only a devoted husband; he was deeply devoted to everyone in his life.

Dan was a rare soul, and anyone would have been fortunate to have him as part of their life. He possessed a genuine spirit-pure, kind, and deeply compassionate. Dan had a way of making everyone he met feel welcomed and at ease in his presence. He made it a point to ensure that everyone around him felt seen, valued, and acknowledged, because he truly understood how much that mattered. He could connect with anyone, always finding common ground through thoughtful conversation. He never missed an opportunity to go above and beyond to show appreciation for others. Whether through a shared laugh, shared excitement, or even shared disappointment (especially when it came to the Vikings), Dan created meaningful moments and lasting memories in his own unforgettable way. His strong belief in humanity and equal rights reflected his profound respect and care for people from all walks of life.

Despite his extraordinary intelligence and near-unfair trivia prowess, he never sought recognition. He would smile and shift the attention to someone else when he received praise. Dan was incredibly kind to people, kind to animals, and he had a gentle spirit. Regardless of differences, politics, or background, he saw the good in everyone. Dan, who was raised Catholic and attended Christ the King School, had a deep level of spirituality Even on the most difficult days, he remained steadfast and dependable. James, his father, once remarked, "You have a great brother." Dan didn't preach; he practiced. He quietly lived his faith through a love that reflected Christ, a gentle strength, helping hands, and a compassionate heart. He made people feel safe, valued, and understood, and he did it without asking for credit.

As if Dan was not genuinely unique enough, he had an astonishing music selection. Dan enjoyed music from just about every music category. To sum it up his favorite radio station to listen to was 89.3 the Current. There was always a surprise song to learn that he listened to, in a good way, of course. Neil Young's "Sugar Mountain" will help you comprehend Dan's soul. He kept up with the latest music, constantly exploring and listening. Dan also had beloved hobbies of photography, fishing, glass blowing, and exploring nature. The West Coast, Florida, the shores of Lake Superior, Duluth, Grand Marais and Lutsen, were the places his soul seemed to breathe easier.

The depth of this loss is felt so profoundly because Dan touched so many lives throughout his journey. He made a difference simply by being who he was-a truly good person who consistently put others before himself.

Dan will forever be loved, remembered, and cherished by so many.

A visitation will take place at 1:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapels, 9940 Bush Lake Rd, Bloomington, MN 55438.
