Mark Richard Caffrey

Mark R. Caffrey, 68, Apple Valley, passed away peacefully on 12/28/25, due to complications from heart disease.

Mark was born in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from Wissahickon HS in 1975 and earned his Bachelors Degree in Business and Marketing from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1979. He started his career as a Buyer for Gimbles Department Store in Pittsburg and then Lazarus Department Store in Columbus, Ohio. In the early 80's he moved to Minneapolis to work as a Buyer for Target. He eventually changed direction in his career and worked as a Manufacturers Representative for several agencies in the Minneapolis area and an Account Representative for the Star Tribune.

Mark retired at an early age due to disability from multiple sclerosis. This allowed him more time to spend with his family which he was grateful for. Mark loved music, especially attending concerts with his kids. In the past year he learned how to play harmonica. He also studied history to learn more about his father's time in the US Marine Corps. He loved sports and was a fan of the Vikings, Timberwolves and Twins. If they weren't winning he would cheer for the Philadelphia Eagles or the Philadelphia Phillies.

Mark and his wife Susan moved from Minnetonka to Zvago Central Village in Apple Valley in 2019. They were grateful for the support and friendship of the community. Mark especially enjoyed the social activities such as music trivia, Friday night happy hour, and hosting Bingo.

Mark's greatest joy was his family. He loved being a Grandpa and was very proud of both his son and daughter. He was thankful everyday for Susan, who lovingly cared for him for many years as his Multiple Sclerosis progressed.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Nancy Caffrey of Philadelphia; his in-laws Don Sr. and Bethel Sieck of Fayette, IA; and his step son, Chase Haskins.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Susan Caffrey (Sieck); Daughter Sarah Moses (Kevin) of Lakeville; Son, Michael Caffrey of Plymouth; Grandsons, Charlie Moses (3) and Maxwell Moses (4 months); Sister Diane of Philadelphia and Brother Eric of New York; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Dawn Valley Chapel and Memorial Park, 9940 Bush Lake Rd, Bloomington, on Monday, January 5, 2026. Visitation 10-11; Funeral Service 11-12; Graveside Service 12-12:30; Lunch Buffet 12:30 - 2.
