Barbara Hansel Obituary

LIMRICK - Barbara Hansel, mother, daughter, Bubbie, sister, friend and colleague passed away Dec. 12, 2025. She didn't lose her battle against multiple health complications, instead faced each challenge with fight and determination.

Born in Houtzdale on Mother's Day, May 9, 1948, she was the daughter of Robert Hansel and Amber Waple Hansel. Mother to Jennifer (Brian) Service, Erin (Darren) Harris and Meredith (Jeffrey) Melasecca.

Beloved Bubbie to Justin and Brandon Service, Sydney and Ashton Harris, Jeffrey and Ava Melasecca. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Justin Service, son-in-law, Jeffrey Melasecca, her husband, Charles Fronheiser and her parents.

She is survived by 3 brothers, Robert, David and Jeffrey and their wives along with many nieces and nephews.

Barbara studied to be a legal secretary at Thompson Institute in Harrisburg after graduating from Moshannon Valley High School in 1966. In 1967 she married Donald Moore and together they moved to the North Penn Area where they raised their family. In 2008 she married Charles Fronheiser from Allentown, PA. At the time of her death she lived in Limerick, and continued to work at Arcadia at Limerick Pointe.

Growing up on a large dairy farm in a very small town actually brought opportunities that allowed her to develop as a leader. She was an active member of 4-H for 8 years and learned how to sew at age 10. She went on to do leadership training for many years as part of the 4-H organization and earned many awards throughout her years as a 4-H member in both sewing and leadership.

Her high school years were filled with many close friends and lots of activities. She was a majorette in the Moshannon Valley High School Marching Band for 3 years. Having the most fun of her life and wonderful friendships that continue through many, many years. Barbara was active in many organizations in high school, was voted the Betty Crocker Homemaker of the Year and represented the school in the 1965 Fall Foliage Festival in Renova.

She was most proud of her daughters for their never-ending love and support and most of all for giving her 6 beautiful grandchildren. Losing her grandson, Justin, at age 20 was a heartbreaking trauma. She knows that she will be reunited with him in a light of peace and tranquility and he will be waiting for her with open arms and the biggest hug. She made sure all her grandchildren were great huggers.

Barbara had the opportunity to travel quite extensively throughout the United States and Canada as the Director of Marketing for Blier International headquartered in Montreal. She was the Northeast Regional Manager for Fisher Hamilton in Two River Wisconsin and Director of Business Development for Bedcolab also in Montreal. She retired from Traditions of America in 2018 where she was a Lifestyle Director and Event Coordinator managing all corporate events throughout their many communities in the State of Pennsylvania.

She loved every opportunity she had to work hard, build lasting relationships but mostly enjoyed spending time with her family. Her body has been willed for research to the Humanity Gifts Registry of Pennsylvania for reaching purposes. Upon completion of studies which could be up to two years –her remains wilbe cremated and the ashes returned to her family.

There will be a private celebration of life in the New Year to remember and honor Barbara, the best Bubbie ever.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cupcakes for Cancer.

My mother, Aunt Tilly, made sure my sister, Sandy, and I both got to know everybody. Barbara and I were really great friends. I loved all my aunts, uncles, and cousins. I miss those days. Barb was my saving grace through my childhood years. Stepping in as a second mom and advisor in her quiet and unassuming way whenever she could see I needed her. I owe her so much and will treasure every memory. Sleep well Barb and know you are loved.

I knew Barbara through our work at Arcadia at Limerick Pointe and while she was living at Limerick Green. She was always kind and pleasant to work with, bringing a calm and respectful presence to those around her. Barbara had an out going personality and positive out look which couldn´t help but make you happy to be around her. Barbara will be remembered fondly by those who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory be a blessing.

Barb was a beautiful lady both, inside and out. She was kind, compassionate, genuinely happy, and always willing to lend a helping hand. I had the pleasure of hiring her at Arcadia and working with her for 2 years. She was a valued member of my team. After I retired I saw her several times when we both volunteered for events. Because of her marketing background, Barb was especially good at community events, adding her own special flair to invitations, decorating, or setting up. I will miss seeing her, as will so many people who knew her. Barb, I pray that you are finally at peace after your difficult journey and are now with all the other angels in heaven.
