Ricky Dayle Hansel, 71, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born in St. Louis, MO, August 30, 1954, to Cecil and Doris May (Sellers) Hansel.

After an eight-month-long battle with lung cancer, the good Lord took Ricky out of his pain, and he is now at peace with his parents.

Ricky married the love of his life, Cynthia Kohlhauff, May 1, 2001and together they made many treasured memories. Ricky worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator with a commercial construction company, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and dedication.

Rick enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He loved riding his Harley and was a devoted NASCAR fan, especially cheering on Dale Earnhardt Sr. Football was another passion, with the Kansas City Chiefs being his favorite team. Above all else, Ricky's favorite things were barbecuing and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Ricky is survived by his devoted wife of twenty-seven years; sons; Travis, Josh, and Cody Hansel; stepchildren: Shane and Danielle Casey, and Waylon Bales; grandchildren: Riley, Eli, CJ, Brody, Landon, Izzy, and Chase; along with many friends who will deeply miss him.

Ricky will be remembered for his love of family, his kind heart, and the joy he found in life's simple pleasures. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Masonic Cemetery, Piedmont, MO. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
