Barbara C Harwood Pickel ObituaryBarbara Harwood Pickel, age 79, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, in Westlake, Ohio.
Born on November 16, 1945, in Cleveland, Barbara spent most of her life in Eastlake, where she lived from 1954 until moving to Westlake three years ago.
She was the cherished mother of Christopher (Malia) Harwood, Jill Harwood Robertson (Jay Merrell), and Jennifer Harwood Orlando; adored grandmother of Samantha Robertson, Ian (Alexis) Robertson, Chaz Orlando, and Olivia Orlando; and proud great-grandmother of Elijah Robertson. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Pickel, and her parents, James and Evelyn Atchison.
For 28 years, Barbara worked with dedication for the Eastlake Fire Department, where her kindness and professionalism touched the lives of many before she retired. She was active in her community, serving as a precinct committeeman and District Chair for the Republican Party. Barbara also shared her love of travel as a part-time travel agent, helping others create lasting memories.
A woman of warmth and spirit, Barbara enjoyed her memberships with the Eastside Irish American Club and the Red Hat Society, where she formed many treasured friendships. She will be remembered for her caring heart, her laughter, and her deep devotion to her family and community.
The family suggests donations in Barbara's memory be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
A Celebration of Life honoring Barbara and her life will be held at a later date.
Barbara's family and friends will forever carry her memory in their hearts, honoring the love, strength, and joy she brought into their lives.
