Barbara Heard Obituary
Born January 5, 1934, in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Eddie Brooks Bryan, Sr. and Helen Thompson Bryan. She was a 1952 graduate of Greenwood High School and a 1954 graduate of the Greenwood College of Commerce. She retired in April 2001, from the Greenwood County Department of Social Services as the business manager.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood and the Carpenter Sunday School Class and served on many committees in the church and the NGO Club of the church. She was also a member of the Greenwood Women's Club and several bridge clubs.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 71 years are a son, Stan (Becky) Heard of McCormick; a daughter, Susan (Tracy) King of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Trent (Alex Slota) King, Brooks King, Daniel Lagroon and Becca L. (Blake) Beauford.
She was predeceased by a brother, Eddie Brooks "Sonny" Bryan; and two sisters, Anne Collins and June Scott Nettles.
A private graveside service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Gardens and a Celebration of Life will be conducted at First Baptist Church at a time not yet determined.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Greenwood, 722 Grace Street, Greenwood, SC 29649, or Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave, Greenwood, SC 29646.
