Barbara Alice Hewitt, better known to the world as Barb, was a woman of warmth, resilience, and a steadfast devotion to her family and home. Born on May 12, 1944, in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, she was a proud Wisconsin native who lived her entire life in the community she loved. In her youth, she found joy in the peaceful solitude of gardening, a hobby that blossomed into a lifelong appreciation for nature's simple beauty.
In her 81 years, Barbara built a life centered around love, kindness, and an unyielding spirit. She married her soulmate, Thomas Hewitt, on June 27, 1970, and together they created a home filled with love, laughter, and endless games of cards and dice. Even after Thomas' passing, her love for him remained a constant, guiding her in her later years. When she wasn't hosting a family gathering or challenging someone to a game of dice, Barbara could often be found tuned into the Country Music Channel or the Game Show Network, her two favorite television pastimes.
Barbara is survived by her granddaughters, Karli Hewitt-Abt and Miranda Becker; her brother David Kester; her sisters, Judy Parmeter and Doris DeBuhr, and her great-grandchildren Julian, Alivia, and Ayva Becker. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Hewitt, her adoring daughters, Ronda Peotter and Angela Hewitt, her loving parents Frank and Clara Kester and several other brothers and sisters.
Please join us in celebrating Barbara's life on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 2201 Chestnut Street, Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, 54494. Visitation will begin at 12:00pm CDT, followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm CDT.
