Barbara Yvonne Hoskie

Barbara Yvonne Cureton Hoskie, a lifelong resident of Norfolk, Virginia, and Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on May 4, 2025. Born on September 22, 1943, Barbara grew up in the Campostella area, graduating from Booker T. Washington High School. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Niece, Cousin, Godmother, and friend, celebrated for her faith, love, and generosity.
Barbara was preceded in death by her children, Anita, Alvin, and Allen Cureton. Sebastian Clowney and DaShawn Watson; her grandson, Myleek Clowney; and great-grandson, Julian Gregory Simpson; Godson, Joseph Harris Jr., and nephew, Marko Scarbor.
She leaves to mourn her surviving children, Everett Simpson, Samuel Clowney (Connie), and Desheena Cureton; and special niece/daughter, LaToya Smith; her siblings, Sharon Davis (Rafe), Annie Mae Hawkins, Sandra Vann, Benjamin, William, Kearney, and Selena Bond, Vinesa Vannel, Marlesia Barnes, and Lorenzo White; grandchildren, Everett Gregory and London Simpson, Marcus, Maurice, Anita, Ashley, Alasia, Ma'Leak, Kwame, Alvin, and Allen Cureton, Jr., Samuel A., Reginald, Raymia, Rodney, Mikayla, Alexa, Lukea and Shamea Clowney, Keirra Holbert (James) Zanea Gayman, Shakia Dawkins, Shada Thompson, Tameri and Joseph Harris Jr., Dayonte Watson, Breona Wright, Shaquana Tabron, and Ryheem Aamard; Godson, Antonio Johnson; her nieces, LaTesia and LaTasha Smith, LaJohnna Hart, Shanelle Scarbor, Michelle Whitfield and Tonnaleah Kingsbury; nephews, Lemuel, Sherman, Lorenzo and Dominique Davis, Charles Anderson, Wilmer Smith, Laurice Parham, Quinton and Javonne Santiful, and John Bassfield, Jr; a special first cousin, Vinisha (Sista) Blow; 45 great-grandchildren; and a host of other Friends and family members.
