Barbara Lou Houseworth, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, July 27, 2025, at Grand Valley Health & Rehabilitation in Martinsville. A longtime resident of Martinsville, Barbara will be fondly remembered for her warmth, devotion to family, and kind spirit.

She was born on December 27, 1935, in Bloomington, Indiana, and graduated from Bloomington High School. A loving and dedicated homemaker, Barbara also worked as a cashier at Kroger Grocery Store in Martinsville during the 1990s. She was a faithful member of the Martinsville Baptist Tabernacle Church.

Barbara enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, taking peaceful walks, and watching cooking shows. She especially cherished her trips to St. Petersburg, Florida with her beloved husband. Above all, Barbara treasured the time spent with her grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart.

She is survived by her sons, Jeff (Donna) Houseworth of Trafalgar and Robert "Bob" (Shelly) Houseworth of Martinsville; grandchildren, Robbie Houseworth of Poland, Kristen Cramer of Indianapolis, and Megan (Travis) Smith of Mooresville; and great-grandchildren, Xavier and Phoenix Houseworth, both of Poland.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert E. Houseworth, whom she married on April 29, 1951, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Houseworth, and siblings, Norma Oaks and Marshall Smith.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 1st from 10 till 11 a.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Followed by a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville conducted by Pastor David Zempel.
