Barbara Jean (Maxwell) McFarland, age 85, passed away on May 25, 2025, in the Wesley Oaks Memory Care in Gainesville, Texas. A family memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28th at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in McAlester, Oklahoma with family officiating. Barbara was born on November 3, 1939, to Andrew and Oieta Maxwell in Albion, Oklahoma. Barbara grew up in Pittsburg, Oklahoma where she graduated High School as Valedictorian. Barbara married Charles McFarland. From their union came three children, Randy, Jeff and Pam. Barbara worked as a school secretary and then was a stay-at-home mom. Barbara got her bachelor's degree in education later in life and spent the next 23 years teaching students Home Economics at Konawa High School, then food and health services at the state vocational level. Barbara was a seamstress who sewed a lot of her family's clothes over the years. Barbara was also a talented artist who painted mostly scenes of birds, butterflies and flowers. Barbara was a Christian who worshiped and served in Baptist and Non-denominational churches during her lifetime. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Melba Enloe. Barbara is survived by her son Randy and his wife Jeannie, son Jeff, daughter Pam Wallace and husband Pat, sister Sandra Chandler, six grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Wesley Oaks Memory Care in Gainesville, Texas and Arcy Hospice for their loving care of Barbara Jean!
