Barbara Jean Iseman born August 8, 1933, finished her earthly journey on April 12, 2023.
She was the eldest daughter of Wrather Howard & Mildred Lawson Howard. Barb attended Holy Name Grade School & graduated from St. Aloysius Academy. She went to St. Mary College & completed nurse's training at Providence Hospital. Later she earned a bachelor's degree from Ottawa University. On May 1, 1954, Barb married the love of her life Ralph J. Iseman Jr. She worked as an RN at Menorah when they were first married. They raised 8 children. Not only was she an amazing mom, grandma & great grandma, but also room mother, health room nurse, human growth & development instructor, Girl Scout leader, ER nurse, oncology nurse coordinator & community mental health program developer. Barb wrote the program and was the first administrator of KC Hospice. She & Ralph both benefited from this wonderful program. Barb was a volunteer extraordinaire - Little Sisters of the Poor, Jayne's GI office, MJ's classroom, San Xavier mission in Arizona. She & Mary Jo were active with the Daughters of St Francis de Sales. She also participated in many parish projects/programs. Entertaining her family & friends brought her joy. Barb & Ralph with their kids camped & explored much of the USA. She & Ralph were snowbirds in Tucson, AZ for 14 years. They also had some amazing travel adventures in the US & Europe. Barb was an avid reader. She was a strong, determined woman with a giving heart. She will be greatly missed by all.
Barb is survived by her children Mary Jo LeCluyse (Mark), Michele Shaw (Bernie), Ralph, III (Julie), Barbara Jayne Cole (Bill), Daniel (Teresa), David (Mary), Andrew (Shelly), and Charles (Vikki), 23 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren (with 4 more on the way). Siblings Bette Cavanaugh, Tom Howard (Patti), Mary Chassaniol and Margaret Headley.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kansas City Hospice or Holy Spirit Church.
