Barbara Jean "Barb" Jansen, 89 of Effingham, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025 at HSHS St Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Following the graveside service, Barb's life will be celebrated upstairs at Village Wine & Spirits. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Effingham Animal Rescue Sanctuary (E.A.R.S.) or the Effingham County Humane Society. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.
Barb was born January 8, 1936 in Chicago, the daughter of Burl and Lydia "Happy" (Wente) Horn. She married John Wayne Jansen on July 9, 1956 and he preceded her in death in 1999. Barb brought her passion for dance to the community and started Jansen's Gym & Dance Center in 1956.
Barb is survived by her children, Lynda (Chuck) White, Debbie Hardiek (Todd) Venters, Jim "JC" (Tracy Schultz) Jansen, and Judi (Steve) Bone, all of Effingham; grandchildren, Christa (Ryan) Koester, Chad (Hayley) White, Erin (Josh) Barnhill, Blair (Jennifer) Hardiek Azzi, John Jansen, Josh (Courtney) Jansen, Kierstyn (Chase) Green, Peyton (Keaton) Wright, and Braydon (Ashlin) Bone; 16 great-grandchildren.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandson, Darin White.
