William "Bill" Funneman, 90, passed away peacefully at his home in Teutopolis on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with burial in St. Francis Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 11:00 am Tuesday at the church, in the St. Clare Hall. Memorial donations may be given to Fear Nothing. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Teutopolis.

Bill was born October 24, 1934 in Effingham, the son of Sylvester and Florence (Schuette) Funneman. He married Shirley A. Bushue on October 18, 1958 and she preceded him in death on May 16, 2025.

Bill was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and faithfully served his country as a United States Marine. He was also a member of the Teutopolis American Legion and the Marine Corps League, where he was a part of the color guard at local ballgames. A skilled carpenter by trade, he built many homes throughout his career, and after retirement, he found joy in crafting beautiful furniture. Bill gave generously of his time, volunteering with Toys for Tots, as well as being his boys' baseball coach and Boy Scout leader. One of the highlights of his later years was traveling to Washington, D.C. with the Lincolnland Honor Flight.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Karen (Stan) Schutte of Stewardson and Kayla (Jeff) Hemmen of Teutopolis; sons, Dennis (Tress) of Dieterich and Terry (Barb) of Teutopolis; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Randy; and his siblings, Bob Schuette, Norbert Funneman, Ralph Funneman, Jim Funneman, Mary Ann Zerrusen, Carol Ann Ruholl, Tom Funneman, Don Funneman, and Steve Funneman.

Bill's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers-Sabrina, Patricia, and Anita-as well as to Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
