Matthew W. Funneman, 44, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Effingham VFW Post 1769, 2304 S. Veterans Drive in Effingham, IL. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the Heart Shrine Club of Effingham or to Mitch Funneman for Matthew's remaining medical expenses. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.
Matthew was born on November 29, 1978, in Effingham, IL, the son of Gerald Funneman and Diane (Robertson) Rippetoe.
Matthew attended Effingham High School. He loved camping, fishing, and riding 4-wheelers. He was a major fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings. Matthew was a jokester and a lot of fun. He didn't know a stranger and was always there for family.
Matthew is survived by his brother, Travis (Vicki) Funneman and twin brother, Mitchell Funneman; nieces, Shelby (fiancé, Dustin Pontious) Funneman and Chloe Funneman; his beloved dog, Blazer; and many other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Funneman and Diane Rippetoe; grandparents, Laurin and Joan Robertson; and grandmother, Mary Funneman.
