Barbara Joncas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Options Funerals & Cremations Inc. on Feb. 14, 2026.
Barbara Ann Hanson (Joncas) of Cudahy, Wisconsin, and formerly of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away on February 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Marenisco, Michigan, and raised in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, Barbara lived a life defined by warmth, honesty, and unwavering devotion to the people she cherished. Fun-spirited, family oriented, and big-hearted, she was the kind of woman everyone could rely on - steady, welcoming, and full of genuine compassion. Her home was never just a house; it was a gathering place, a comfort, and a constant source of joy. Nothing made her happier than a bustling, full home filled with conversation, laughter, and the beautiful chaos of the family she adored.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved son Donald, her loving parents Albert and Esther (née Pratt) Joncas, and many cherished siblings: Betty Novak, Margaret Wieczorkowski, Mary Lipowski, Ruth Jacob, Jeanette Odegard, Robert Sr. Joncas, Gerald Sr. Joncas, Ronald Joncas, David Joncas, and Albert Joncas.

She is survived by her siblings Thomas Joncas and Patti (Larry) Stritchko, and by her loving children:

Coleen Mueller, Charlotte (Ron) Paquin, Carrie (Ken) Wendlick, John (Wendy), Christine (Rick) Tercher, Brian (Traci), and Scott (Shellye).

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren:

Samantha (Justin) Seegert, Heather, Natasha (Travis) Paget, Kathryn Tercher, Amy, Britney (Alex) Bosseau, and Brett;

Her great-grandchildren:

Alexa (Cade), Aubry, Arlo, Amari, and Blaise;

and her great-great-granddaughter, Adalyn.

She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved her deeply.

Barbara's presence was the heart of every family gathering. She had a talent for making others feel seen, valued, and cared for - whether through conversation, a warm hug, or a plate of her incredible cooking. Known for her treasured family recipes, especially her famous spaghetti and meatballs, she created meals that brought everyone together and became traditions passed down through generations.

She had a lifelong love for chocolate, especially chocolate ice cream, a simple joy that brought her so much happiness. One of the family's most treasured final memories is sharing her last chocolate ice cream with two of her granddaughters on the night of her passing - a moment that perfectly captured her sweetness, generosity, and love.

Barbara's signature phrase, "Isn't that just grand," will forever echo in the minds and hearts of those who knew her. She found joy in small things, humor in everyday moments, and gratitude in the life she built.

A proud Wisconsinite, she loved her local sports teams. While formal attire is encouraged for the funeral, the family welcomes Brewers apparel as a nod to something she loved.

Above all else, Barbara's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her family. She poured her entire heart into each of them, giving love without limits and creating a legacy built on closeness, strength, and devotion. She will be remembered not only for the life she lived, but for the love she gave - steadfast, unconditional, and truly grand.
