Doris M. Joncas – Age 93, passed away peacefully, December 29 at her home after a brief illness.
She was born in Boston, September 11, 1931, a daughter of the late Joseph G. and Martha (Story) Joncas. She moved to the family home that her father built in August 1932.
She attended the Faulkner Kindergarten and Billerica schools and graduated from Howe High School in 1949. In her Yearbook she was referred to as "The General". Doris worked for Liberty Mutual for over 42 years as a Telecommunications Tech. She enjoyed 33 years of retirement. She was a lifelong member of St. Andrew Church in N. Billerica and was a woman of strong faith and was active in the church until her eyesight worsened. She would watch the Mass at Notre Dame on Catholic TV every Sunday.
Doris had a great love for all animals. She loved her house, working in the garden and if the sun was out she could be seen sitting in the garage door way. She was blessed to have wonderful lifelong neighbors. She had a network of friends checking in on her, doing her shopping, yard work, bringing her communion, taking her to her appointments and her dog, Bindie's appointments.
She is survived by her companion, Bindie; her cousins in the Diaz family, the Conway family, the Gearty family, her godchildren, Duke Diaz, Nancy and Alice Roper, and her neighbors and network of friends. She is predeceased by her parents, her brother Joe and sister-in-law, Grace and nephew Joey.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 31 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 8:30 – 9: 30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Andrew Church. Talbot Ave., N. Billerica at 10 a.m. Her burial will take place at the Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. Memorial contributions may be made in Doris's name to St. Matthew the Evangelist at St. Andrew Church, One Grace Ave., Billerica, MA 01821
