Lilian Joncas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Walnut Lawn Funeral Home - Springfield on Mar. 15, 2023.
Lilian Margaret Joncas, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away March 13, 2023, at the age of 96. She was born August 15, 1926, in Newquey, Cornwall, England.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two siblings; infant son; and husband of 61 years, Fred M. Joncas. Lilian is survived by daughter, Valerie (Phil) Arendell of Springfield, Missouri; sons, Alex Joncas of Mesa, Arizona, and Fred Joncas (Valerie) of Brighton, Michigan; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mom was so very proud of her British heritage, coming to the US as a new wife of a Yankee, a new mother, and an English War Bride. After raising their three children in Redford Township, Michigan, they followed their daughter and her husband to San Diego, California, where they lived for 17 years, then upon retirement, following them to Springfield, Missouri. After Dad's passing in 2006, Mom resided at The Gardens Senior Living in Springfield for 17 years, forming so many wonderful friendships over the years. She never missed a chance to tell someone "I am British" along with telling many of her British childhood stories. She will be so greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her family expresses sincere thanks to The Gardens and everyone else involved in her care over the years.
At her request, no services will be held. Her cremains will be laid to rest with her veteran husband at Springfield National Cemetery. In mom's memory, in lieu of flowers, please go and do a good deed or donate to a charity of choice.
"We cannot see her but she is with us still. A Mother like ours is more than a Memory. She is a Living Presence." – Pearl Bailey
"Cheerio Mum"
Her care has been entrusted to Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Ltd. DeGraffenreid-Wood Crematory.
