Barbara R. Kabot

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Stone Kabot of Newton, formerly of Malden, after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Loretta & Harry Stone, formerly of Malden and Randolph. Beloved wife of the late Sydney Kabot of Newton, and Stepmother of Jeffrey Kabot, of California. She is survived by her sisters Madeline Glugeth and Joyce D'Amico of Chestnut Hill. Also survived by her niece Cheryl & her husband Robin Sampson, her nephew Derek Sampson & his fiancé' Sarah Longfield, nephew Brett & his wife Devon Sampson, niece Mallory Sampson & her husband Andrew Fontenault, and great aunt of Garrett, Jordyn & Bretty.

Barbara was a graduate of Hickox Secretarial School and received a certificate from LaBoure College in Food Service Management & Nutrition. She worked for many years for Ginn & Co. in the proofreading & editing department. Her great passion was Culinary Arts and worked as a manager & supervisor for many colleges, and medical facilities. She had a passion for cooking, and made many specialties for holidays and parties, which she shared with her family & friends.

She prided herself on becoming a collector of all things beautiful and valuable. She owned a vast collection of cookbooks from all over the world, especially her signed collection of Julia Child cookbooks. Known for her exquisite taste, in clothing, furniture, and art, she became everyone's advisor.

Having had many health challenges during her lifetime, she coped bravely and tried to succeed despite them. She believed when something bad happens, we have three choices, we can let it define us, let it destroy us, or let it strengthen us. She had a dry sense of humor, and a very memorable laugh; our world will not be the same without her.

Funeral Services at King Solomon Memorial Park, (2667 Centre St., West Roxbury), on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's memory may be made to The National Kidney Foundation, or Jewish National Fund.
