Barbara Kay Ballou, 59, of Plainfield, passed over into heaven on December 10, 2021. She was born on June 24, 1962 in Indianapolis, to Walter and Shirley A. (Brummett) Ballou. Barbara was born with Cerebral Palsy but she was definitely a fighter. Barbara loved spending time with family and her special dog, Rocky. He held a special place in her heart. She will always be remembered for the way she loved family, friends and for the incredible strength she had to overcome obstacles throughout her life. Barbara attended Howe High School. She loved her time spent at Bradford Woods summer camp, bowling at Special Olympic events, and going to the beach. She also enjoyed her special days out in the community with loving people from Bridges of Indiana. Beloved daughter, sister, and friend, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her parents, Walter and Shirley Ballou of Mooresville; brothers, Rex (Kay) Ballou of Hoschton, Georgia, David (Penny) Ballou of Avon, Darrell Ballou of Indianapolis; sister, Linda (Samuel) Woodford of Plainfield; and a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. Her brother, Tommy Ballou, preceded her in death. The Ballou family would like to express a very special thank you to all of Barbara's nurses, caregivers, and staff at Cumberland Trace Senior Living in Plainfield, for all of the love, care, and support that they provided to her. A special thank you to Dean White for directing church services at Cumberland Trace. Barbara loved to attend when she was able. Services will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 17, 2021 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, with burial to follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the service time in the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.bakerfuneralservice.com
