She was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 22, 1943 of Alfred and Phenamay (Penny). She grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan with her siblings, Judy (Miller) and Rick. She graduated from Calvin College in 1965 where she met her husband, John. They were married for 58 years.
Barb was a school teacher at Western Suburbs Christian School in the Chicago area and worked in various Children's ministries for over the years.
In 2005 Barb and John moved to Bethany, Illinois where they bought a You-Pick Blueberry farm. Barb loved to greet her customers and talk with everyone who stopped by.
For 10 years, Barb and John were snowbirds in Bradenton, Florida before residing there permanently in 2018 where they attended Bradenton Christian Reformed Church.
Barb's life was deeply grounded in her faith in the Lord Jesus. She began each day with Him in devotion and prayer. She always strived to be Christ-like in her daily walk and was devoted to being there for others- whatever the need; no task was ever too great or too small. She now waits for us to join her in heaven. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy.
