Gerald Norton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Knollcrest Funeral Home on Dec. 3, 2025.
Gerald "Gerry" Norton
July 1941 – November 30, 2025
Gerald Norton, lovingly known as Gerry, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on November 30, 2025. Born in July 1941 to Walter and Eleanor Norton, Gerry grew up in Franklin Park and attended East Leyden High School. He lived a life filled with devotion to family, music, and community.
He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann Norton, and a proud father to his two sons, Jeffrey (Kara) Norton and Stephen (Ashley) Norton. Gerry's greatest joy was his nine grandchildren: Liam, Elizabeth, Julia, Jack, Maxwell, and Lily from Jeffrey's family, and Kaylyn, Kendall, and Aubrey from Stephen's family. He treasured every moment spent listening to and encouraging them, especially in their musical pursuits.
A graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in Accounting, Gerry built a professional life rooted in dedication and integrity. Yet his true passion was music. He played with the Marching Illini during his college years and continued to share his talents throughout his life, performing with the COD Municipal Band and the Senior Suburban Orchestra. Whether performing himself or listening to his grandchildren share their talents, music was the heartbeat of his life.
Gerry was also a life member of the Knights of Columbus at Christ the King Parish in Lombard, where his faith and fellowship were central to his life.
He will be remembered for his warmth, his love of classical and jazz music, and his unwavering support for his family. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the melodies he loved and the family he nurtured.
In accordance with his wishes, a private service will be held.
