Barbara Ellen Kimble

Barbara Ellen (Shoup) Kimble, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025, at the age of 89. Born in Mulvane, Kansas, to Eugene and Lucille (Snyder) Shoup, Barbara lived a life full of love, service, and dedication to her family and community.
Barbara graduated from Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia in 1958. She married the love of her life, William E. (Bill) Kimble, on September 1, 1957. They shared many wonderful years together until Bill's passing on January 27, 2001.
Barbara's professional career was marked by her dedication to helping others. She worked at Drs. Anderson and Barber Family Practice Clinic in Augusta from 1961 to 1986. After a brief stint working for a local insurance agency, she served as the Administrative Secretary for the Chaplaincy Services Department at Wesley Medical Center, retiring in 1996.
Barbara was a talented pianist and organist and devoted her musical gifts to the Presbyterian Church in Augusta for several years. Later, she became an active member of the 1st Christian Church in Augusta, where she served as a part-time organist, worked with the youth music program, participated in Sunday school, and sang in the church choir.
In 1988, Barbara and Bill moved to Wichita, where she continued to live until her passing. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her older brother Don Shoup, older sister Martha and brother-in-law Bob Fleming, and her husband Bill. She is survived by her brother Floyd (Vali) Shoup, sister-in-law Roberta Shoup; sons, Ted (Debbie) of Wichita and Gene (Gay) of Wichita; her grandchildren, Terra Marten, Heather (Hippy) Valerio, William Kimble, Tad (Ashley) Greer, Jacob (Sydney) Kimble, and Channing Kimble; and her great-grandchildren, Marcos Valerio, Vanessa Valerio, Izabella Greer, Von Greer, and Penelope Kimble and nephews and nieces.
