Barbara Mary Kluck, 88 of Rochester, joined her husband in heaven on October 31, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus. She was born in Fergus Falls, MN on December 9, 1935 to Frank and Mildred (Peitz) Farrington. In 1944 they moved to St. Cloud, MN. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1953 and attended St. Cloud Hospital School of X-Ray Technology. After passing her boards, she procured a job at St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato, MN.
She met Bernie Kluck, her forever love, at a dance (they both loved to dance and even danced to Louis Armstrong). They were married February 16, 1957 at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Mankato. They moved to Rochester where Bernie worked for Olmsted County Public Health Dept. and Barb worked for Olmsted Medical Group, until moving to Stewartville in 1967 to raise their family, Brad, Beth, and Kristin. In 1973, Barb went to work at Mayo Clinic. She and seven other Radiographers started the Mayo Clinic School of Radiography. She was proud to be the first female X-Ray Technician for Mayo Clinic. She later worked in Quality Control and CT Scanning, where she helped create the training manual for all new CT Scanner trainees. She retired in 1994 after 21 years with Mayo Clinic.
Barb was actively involved in her Catholic faith. She taught Religious Education at both St. Pius X and St. Bernards parishes. She was a reader and an extraordinary eucharistic minister. She gave communion to the sick for 10 years at Methodist Hospital.
She enjoyed camping with family for 10 years (winter and summer), cross country skiing and sledding with her grandchildren. They continued their camping adventures when they purchased a motorhome and traveled extensively throughout the country. They also traveled to Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, and Caribbean cruises. Barb visited England and Ireland with her father and siblings. Barb especially loved to sew, knit, crochet, and do Hardanger embroidery.
She is survived by her children, Bradley (Sara) Kluck of Rochester, Beth (Scott) Wibben of Green Bay, WI, Kristin (James) Wing of La Crosse, WI, grandchildren Jason Kluck, Amy (Andy) Ohm, Jennifer Prigge, Nicole Binner, Annie Binner, Adam Wing, Jessica Wehrs, Jamey Wing, granddaughter-in-law Andrea Kluck, great-grandchildren Ava and Cole Ohm, Grace, Peighton and Jameson Prigge, Jaxon, Claire, Gianna Wehrs, Hank and Archie Wing, Bernie Escribano and Bennett Kluck. Her siblings Bev (Duane) Chirhart, and Mike (Denise) Farrington.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bernie (2017), grandson Thomas (2023), and sister Brenda (2023).
The Memorial Mass for Barb will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 11:00AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery Rochester.
Memorials are preferred to Cancer Research at Mayo Clinic or donor's choice.
