In Loving Memory of Barbara Kositzke
Barbara Kositzke, age 89, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, relative, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, surrounded by love and music.
Born on September 25,1936 in Columbus, Ohio, Barbara lived a life defined by devotion to family, strength, and compassion. She was the heart of her home, someone whose essence brought comfort, whose wisdom guided her family, and whose love was felt by everyone who knew her. As a mother, she gave endlessly of herself, offering patience, encouragement, and love. As a grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, she found her greatest joy in watching her family grow, celebrating milestones both big and small, and creating memories that will be treasured forever. Her laughter, warm hugs, and advice will live on in the hearts of those she loved. Barbara had a remarkable way of making others feel welcome and valued, and her generosity left a lasting mark on all who crossed her path. She lived a life dedicated to family, love and sharing. She will always be in our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her father Weldon Gould, her mother Susanna Farr, her beloved husband Arthur Kositzke and his son Scott, and her sister Connie Leshy. She is survived by her loving children Dave Thompson (Suzie), Paul Thompson, Theresa Thompson (Jens), Steve Thompson (Vickie), Doug Kositzke (Jane), and Mike Kositzke (Pete); grandchildren Sarah Thompson, Rachel Thompson, Matthew Thompson, Emily Thompson, Isabelle Stephen, Blue Rybo-LoPresti, Stephen Peirano (Marcy), Erin Rapp (Eddie), Daniel Kositzke, and Ben Kositzke (Kylee); great-grandchildren Scarlett Rae Thompson, Gracelyn Rain, Freya Rybo-LoPresti, Jesssica Rapp (Nate), Tyler Rapp, Ava Rapp, Ronnie Rapp, Dawkins Rapp, and Reed Peirano; great-great grandchildren, Kingston Rapp and Skye Nicole Kositzke; niece Pam (Dave) Sauerman and their extended family, and many loving cousins, dear friends, and remarkable caregivers who will miss her deeply.
Visitation will be held at Pfeifer Woodyard Funeral Home, 7915 E. Main Street,
Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068 on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 4-7pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, 11 am, with a visitation an hour prior, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 4501 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123 with Pastor Joe Stark officiating. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. (When coming to service at Bethel Lutheran, please park in the South Lot).
