Barbara Joan Krebs

Barbara J. (Howe) Krebs, 82, of Newtown, CT (formerly from Danbury) passed away on September 16, 2025. Born on February 27, 1943, she was the daughter of the late George and Catherine (Thompson) Howe. Barbara graduated from Stamford High School and then from Katharine Gibbs School in NYC.

Mrs. Krebs worked for many years at Louis Herman Insurance Agency (currently known as Bruen Deldin Didio Associates Inc.) in Brewster, NY. Barbara was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danbury. She enjoyed going on walks, playing games with her grandchildren, line-dancing, playing Mahjong at the Southbury Senior Center, and spending the cold winters in Bradenton, FL. She and her late husband John also enjoyed many cruise ship adventures with friends and family.

Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband John C. Krebs of over 50 years in marriage, and her sister Constance (Howe) Jennings.

Barbara is survived by her loving sons John Karl of Berkeley Heights, NJ; Eric and his wife Amy of Danbury, CT; Gary and his wife Kristin of New Fairfield, CT; as well as her grandchildren – Trevor, Nicholas, Connor, Sam, Emma, Elliot, Kyle, Karl, and Kaden. Barbara is also survived by her siblings Cathy (Howe) Palardy of Danbury, CT; Millie (Howe) Hansen and her husband Tom of Dunwoody, GA; and John Howe of Dunwoody, GA.

The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home at 247 White Street, Danbury, CT on Monday September 29th from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Burial in St. Peter's Cemetery will be private.
